2009年2月15日晚9:20是一个难忘的时间,就在此时,李韬因遭车祸与世长辞,离我们而去。听到这个噩耗,大家都撕心裂肺!

无论如何都不敢相信,这么一位善良的人怎么就英年早逝了呢?

李韬家境贫寒。1964年3月18日出生于中国的山东滕州东沙河村一个贫苦农民家庭。兄弟姊妹6人,有4个哥哥1个姐姐,他排行老小,哥哥和姐姐都是普普通通的农民。父母为了能使他光宗耀祖省吃俭用供他上大学。老人为了供养6个孩子,积劳成疾,前几年双双去世。李韬生前还经常跟同事说,没能很好地孝敬父母,感到很遗憾。

李韬勤奋好学。通过自己的不懈奋斗,一步步实现了他追求的更高目标。1981年考上了山东省枣庄师范专科学校英语专业学习,毕业后到枣庄第31中学当英语老师,期间在曲阜师范大学外语系进修了本科。1991年又考上了山东师范大学英语专业的硕士研究生,毕业后到了山东友谊出版社当编辑。不甘落后的他于2000年又到中国社会科学院攻读了博士学位。勤勤恳恳的一生!

李韬对人诚实友好。2003年来到北京石油化工学院后,被聘为副教授,爱岗敬业,乐于助人。有些课不好上,总是他上;有的老师生病、出差调课,总是他替代。他教的学生

总是乐于向他请教,他总是耐心地指导。他是受学生爱戴的好老师,受同事尊敬的好朋友!

最可悲可痛的是撒手撇下了孤儿寡母。他的儿子品学兼优,正在清华大学附中上高一,孩子以后的生活学习怎么办?他的妻子现在在学校图书馆找了个临时工作,工资很低。前年高房价时买了一套房子,90%的房款是银行贷款,至今才偿还了一点。他的妻子在哭诉中常喊的一句话是:“你怎么忍心撇下我们无依无靠的孤儿寡母,我们今后靠谁呀?”

逝者已去,但生者还要坚强地活下来!

A Short Biography of Dr. Li Tao

Born in 1964 in Dong Sha He Village of Tengzhou County in China’s Shandong Province, Dr. Li Tao was the youngest of six children in a poor peasant family. Even with few possessions and little money, Dr. Li Tao’s parents and his siblings worked hard to send him to schools until he became independent. Due to years of hard work and difficult life, both Dr. Li’s parents have passed away a few years ago. Dr. Li has expressed his deep regret that he was not able to provide a better life for his parents.

Dr. Li Tao started working at a young age after finishing a vocational high school in 1983. He became a English teacher of a middle school teacher in Zao Zhuang. During the eight years of his teaching career, he never stopped studying and improving himself. He enrolled in the Yu Fu Normal University for undergraduate studies and got his bachelor’s degree in teaching English as second language. In 1991 he was admitted by the Graduate School of Shandong Normal University and started his endeavor in academia. In 1994, he successfully completed his graduate studies and got his master’s degree. In 1994, Dr. Li Tao became an editor of Shandong Friendship Publishing Housing.

Pursing higher goals was always in his heart. In 2000 he was admitted by the doctorate program of at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. There he became interested in study American politics and society and determined to be a top-notch scholar in this area. In 2003 Dr. Li Tao was hired by Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology and became an associate professor. In 2006 he was recognized as the Best Young College Teacher by the Beijing Education Commission. He cared about social justice and the well-being of the poor. He studied sustainable development, philanthropic foundations and governance of the state. In three years, he participated in the translation of two books and authored one book on American politics and foreign affairs.

After 20 years of teaching, Dr. Li Tao has many students. As a typical, hard working Chinese intellectual, a teacher, Dr. Li Tao was dedicated to his profession and his students. He was a good son and a loving father and husband. Rich in spirit but poor in material wealth best describes the economic status of most young Chinese intellectuals. Unfortunately, Dr. Li Tao’s sudden departure has left his surviving family with a newly mortgaged home in Beijing and unspeakable pain for his wife and their 17-year-old son.
