2013 秋季迎新会 (Welcome BBQ Party for Fall 2013 students)
September 1st, 2013, in this splendid season, Our Chinese Students and Scholars Association at Michigan State University successfully held the 2013 fall welcome barbecue party for the new Chinese students and visiting scholars.
If you’ve a friend afar who knows your heart, distance can’t keep you two apart. On this day, we welcomed about 200 students. We got together at Lake Lansing Park, meeting and chatting with each other. The staff members from CSSAMSU prepared very nice lunch for the new students in a combination of Chinese and Western styles – steaks, salads, spring rolls, noodles and delicious mango smoothie.
During the barbecue party, the President of CSSAMSU, Zhang Jun, gave a short speech to welcome all the coming students to join our big family, MSU, and offered some sincere suggestions and tips for studying in the U.S. He emphasized the importance of safety awareness. As an international student, we left our home country and travelled all the way here alone, and there must be a lot of challenges and temptations we would be confronted with. The key point is to learn self-protection and independent thinking ability. However, Jun also reminded students that do not forget CSSA, the family for you in the U.S., whenever facing difficulties. It is a supportive group where you may obtain valuable experience, as well as cares from seniors and friends.
This barbecue party is a welcome event for the new students and scholars. Meanwhile, we were glad to invite the volunteers who provided free pick-up service for the new students during the summer and would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to all of them.
After lunch, students either hanged out with couple of newly made friends walking around the green rippling lake, or played volleyball on the lawn enthusiastically.
CSSAMSU would always stay with all the Chinese students and scholars, starting a brand new journey of studying abroad.
Wish everyone a great new semester!
